For X Games 15 we focused on what makes X Games the premier action sports event in the world; the mind blowing tricks the athletes practice all year to set off on the worlds biggest stage. Since X Games 15 marked a significant milestone in the history of the Games we felt that it was appropriate to focus on the pageantry that the tricks provide. We decided that Original Works of Sport are like fireworks: carefully engineered spectacles that go off with a spontaneous, massive bang. So with this idea, we used the metaphor of firecrackers to highlight what makes the X Games so exciting and unpredictable. Framing each unique firework as a representation of each athlete’s individual expression. To further reinforce the concept, we used the packaging from vintage fireworks to inspire everything from TV to print graphics to merchandising, in order to create a very ownable look with a distinct summer vibe.
